Currently, Pemex has huge debts due to reduced oil production. The company has already refused to pay the ransom. According to Mexican Energy Minister Rosio Nacle, the attack took place at the headquarters in Mexico City, but the work at the fields continues.

Attackers used DoppelPaymer tools. In the past, it was used to attack the Chilean Ministry of Agrarian Policy and municipal systems in one of the cities of Texas.

Recall that in May, a number of U.S. government agencies were attacked by ransomware using the NSA’s EternalBlue program.
